Xanthe Zhou (they/them) is a skilled Chinese-American "Spirit Envoy". Walking the border between living and dead, Xanthe splits their time between battling mystical threats in the living world and tending to the souls of the dead in the Spirit World.Although their friendship started out with an awkward misunderstanding of joss paper and its uses, they are a good friend of John Constantine! Xanthe is often depicted alongside him on and off the job.A "spirit envoy" is someone who delivers goods to people in the Spirit World whose families have forgotten to give them offerings or do not have living relatives in the realm of the living to give them offerings. As they are both alive and dead, Xanthe possesses the unique ability to burn their joss paper foldings and turn them into the real thing, regardless of what realm they're walking in.
